If you’re reading this right now, chances are you most probably got engaged recently, so a big congratulations from me here at Desi Bride Dreams! Whoop Whoop! I’m very excited for you! This is where the fun begins.
So you’ve dreamt of that big Indian wedding since you were a little girl (haven’t we all?) and now you need to get moving with executing the biggest day of your life (no pressure). The first thing you need to do after getting engaged is to set a date and this is vital. But setting a date isn’t sometimes as simple as it sounds. You need to think of lots of external factors as well as your Bhua, Chacha’s and not to mention Dada ji’s availability. I went through this very recently whilst I was trying to set a date so I know the feeling! So to help out my lovely brides I have put together the below tips which will help you when setting that all important date.
Summer vs. Winter?
This is as simple as it sounds, do you want a summer wedding or a winter wedding? The plus side to a summer wedding is that the weather will be OK – however as you know British weather is unpredictable so be prepared ladies! Yet a lot of couples do tend to opt for out of season weddings such as November and January. It’s all down to personal preference, if you literally can’t hack the cold then I would opt for a spring/summer wedding or if you are on a limited budget then I would opt for out of season winter wedding as you will probably be able to negotiate better deals with suppliers such as venues and caterers as they will normally provide a discount for out of season. Myself and my fiancé have opted for May, because we know the weather tends to be nice and I absolutely detest winter! Before you set your date it would be worth calling a few preferred venues and caterers that to see if they would offer you a lower rate for out of season, this will then make you decision easier when you are deciding the date for the big day.
