Hello there Desi Brides! We have lots of new readers here on the Desi Bride Dreams blog and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sharn Khaira and I am an Asian wedding planner and Asian wedding coordinator. I’m the super proud owner of Desi Bride Dreams which is a Asian wedding planning and coordination company.
As I’m sure many of you are all too aware of, Asian weddings are often large, grand affairs. They are complicated, taking a great deal of Asian wedding planning and organisation. It’s no surprise so many Asian couples opt for Asian wedding planners and Asian wedding coordinators.
That is just why Anisha and Jatin hired us to coordinate their special day at the prestigious Dallas Burston Polo Club.
Here is a sneek peek of their video which has been beautifully put together by Zenith Cinematography.
Their wedding was lavish to say the least! It simply oozed with decadence and luxuriousness, having an altogether regal feel to it. They went with the colour scheme of red and gold, with centrepieces of gorgeous golden vases filled with an abundance of red flowers towering over the tables. The head table made the happy couple look and feel like royalty; ornate golden archways making it most throne like.
And what role did I play in their big day you may ask? Well…
We were hired 7 months before the wedding and were therefore able to help with many of the final details. As a Asian wedding planner I worked with Anisha on many things, from the drinks confirmation to the place cards. I even helped her choose the entrance songs for her and her family.
As with all my Asian wedding coordination and Asian wedding planning clients, I was made the main point of contact in the weeks leading up to the wedding, taking over their list of suppliers and liaising with them before the big day. This really eased the pressure on the bride and groom, allowing them to enjoy the pre-wedding celebrations to the full. It also meant that Anisha was able to relax and get in plenty of beauty sleep without being bombarded with phone calls and emails from various suppliers just days before the wedding. I personally ensured that each supplier knew exactly what time they were arriving to the venue and what their brief was; nothing was to be left to chance.
However, what I was really hired for was the running and execution of the day itself. Anisha wanted organisation on her wedding day as she had a complex set up with her decor and large guest numbers – I certainly had my work cut out for me. However being a Asian wedding planner nothing phases us here at Desi Bride Dreams!
On the day, which started at 7.15am for our team at Desi Bride Dreams, we managed 500 guests for the ceremony and 350 for the reception, making our job vital in rounding up such large numbers. The set up for the décor was complex, allowing us very little time to transition from morning to evening. But I enjoy the challenge of a tight turn around and despite being constantly up against time, with a detailed itinerary and calm approach, everything ran smoothly. I dealt with various suppliers and personal throughout the day, working alongside Shiv Gopal Music to ensure Anisha’s entrance was perfect!
And it certainly was!
I can’t tell you how many people came up to me on and after the day, commenting on how smooth and seamless the wedding ran. As an Asian wedding coordinator and Asian wedding planner, this is one of the biggest complements I could ever hope for.
The day was indeed a huge success, but that’s not to say it wasn’t without its obstacles. Due to unforeseen circumstances, there was a problem with the arrival of the name tags, and so our team here at Desi Bride Dreams sorted them out ourselves. However, that is just the sort of thing we do for our clients, as throughout the day myself and my team carried out any task that was needed. From putting out bottles of water and nut snacks for the ceremony, to dismantling the reception set up, to managing the Jaan arrival, we were able to deal with everything without burdening either Ani or Jatin.
When organising such a large, epic wedding with such tight turn arounds as this one, things can be overwhelming and unenjoyable. But if you wish to have a stress-free wedding day, able to enjoy it for yourselves, then wedding coordination may be just the thing for you. It certainly was for Ani and Jatin.
