Asian Wedding trend report.
Here at Desi Bride Dreams we believe that no Asian wedding should ever be the same. We believe a wedding day should be individual to each couple, deeply personal and special, with a few surprises to make the day truly shine.
If you are anything like me and love to scour the internet or magazines to look at new emerging interior trends, the latest colour palettes hitting the high-street and catwalks then this 2017 Asian wedding trend report is definitely for you.
Having a look through our predicted wedding trends of 2017 can serve as an inspiration, a place to start when overwhelmed with the task of Asian wedding planning. So please grab a cup of tea and enjoy all of the wonderful trends that will be gracing us this year.
This trend is particularly relevant to Asian couples planning their Asian wedding. With the pressure of Asian weddings to be larger in size and added complications of different family values from both the bride and grooms side, destination weddings are growing in popularity and fast becoming a Asian wedding trend. For example I recently had a Sikh bride contact me and say that she was fearful of having her fusion wedding in the UK to her Hindu fiance, as she was worried about complications that may arise from fundamentalists from the UK Sikh community. For this reason the couple opted to have a destination wedding. Destination weddings allows bride and grooms to opt for a smaller, more intimate wedding with ease. And with Desi Bride Dreams offering destination wedding planning, it couldn’t be simpler. Why not drop us a email at email@example.com for more information.

Weddings are all about the bride and groom – of course they are! So where there’s a chance to add some personalised touches to the big day, who could resist! We have long seen a huge trend in monograms which have been particularly prevalent in the Asian wedding world. We have seen these being incorporated within bespoke dance floors and wedding stationary however commission illustrations takes it that one step further. You could possibly have commissioned a bespoke illustration of the two of you, a custom crest or your venue and this can be used throughout all of your wedding elements such as the invitation suite or other wedding stationary and even in the decor and design of your Asian wedding. It really is the perfect way to personalise your day.

This happens to be one of my personal favourites for 2017 trends! It is definitely one for the style-savvy Asian couple, being decadent whilst remaining classy. A perfect way to incorporate this trend is to have a geode inspired cake, the crystal look being simple to recreate using rock candy, adding a beautifully raw and natural element to your wedding.
STREET FOOD FEASTS
Another one of my favourites, I just love the way food can be served in such a fun, creative and interactive manner. The possibility of amazing vendors to choose from are endless. Inspired by street-food/festival stalls, these stations can range from doughnut delis to champagne stations, or even ice cream stalls. This trend is perfect for real foodies who love an exciting assortment of foods and drinks.
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT
This trend is an exciting one, with endless possibilities really. Just imagine anything unusual, any idea that’s quirky or outside of the box and make it happen! Couples are now moving away from the norms of a traditional wedding etiquette and incorporating the creative and wonderful. Want table-side entertainers or aerial dancers? Why not!

ACRYLIC AND PERSPEX
We all love the Louis Ghost Chairs but this trend is slowly but surely making its way through to other wedding elements. This transparent trend is simple, elegant and incredibly easy to incorporate into your special day. You can be as creative as you like, from ‘floating’ floral arrangements to bespoke signs.
STATEMENT PANTONE GREEN
Named as Pantone’s colour of the year at the end of 2016, this bright hue is an interesting and gorgeous fun shade. Some might shy away from because of its sheer brightness. But there’s no need to shy away from this colour – it would fit in perfectly with a vibrant Asian wedding, adding an exciting pop of colour.
Greenery and foliage is also definitely here to stay for 2017.
Even Sabyasachi announced his new campaign – FIRDAUS last week which features the Pantone green.
HOLOGRAMS AND METALLIC’S
This trend is another, just like the geodes, that works incredibly well on your Asian wedding cake. Adding this iridescent touch to a cake can give it a dazzling futuristic look, adding a touch of magic to the occasion. It looks both elegant and creative, sure to captivate the attention of your entire wedding party.

Who says lighting has to be boring? In 2017, we’re hoping, will be the year for bigger and better lighting productions, making the wedding feel more theatrical than ever before. Lighting teams can transform places, filling venues with individuality and energy and creating an epic atmosphere.

TEXTURES AND TONES
You may not have thought it, but textures can say so much about the style and tone of your wedding. So why not mix it up with the layering of all sorts of different textural fabrics. Want a fabulous wedding atmosphere? Add some faux fur or glitter. Want a romantic, sultry reception? The velvet’s and soft chiffon’s are just for you. This wedding trend is all about having fun with different textures and tones.
Speaking of textures, there is one that we think will be all the range this wedding year – velvet! Richly textured and luxurious to the touch, this must-have fabric can be incorporated into anything. Are you looking for that perfect luxe accessory? Why not try a velvet lehengha, or maybe even some velvet heels to help you achieve that regal look.
To finish off the trends of 2017, we’re throwing in a comeback, the comeback of a much-loved fashion accessory, the choker. Very popular right now even amongst the high street retail market, it can be a statement piece for any bride. Brides could wear chokers encrusted with precious stones, or pearls, giving them an edgy, majestic look on their most important day.
