Hello my gorgeous brides to be!
I’ve started to think about my wedding lehenga. It’s crazy how fast time is going and next week I will be just 9 months away until my big day!
So I went to Birmingham earlier this week as we had to shop for an outfit for my Mum, for my chunni/engagement ceremony next month. So I thought I might as well have a quick peek in the shops to have a look at a Bridal Lehenga. Annoyingly a lot of them were appointment only but I did manage to go to a few shops but nothing wowed me at all. The customer service was also dire, and the shop assistants rather chat to their co-workers rather than serve you.
I think like any bride I am going to be uber picky, but now that I have had a quick peek at the Birmingham bridal shops I think I am deffo getting my lehenga from Delhi or Punjab. There will just be more choice and variety. The shopping experience will also be out of this world. We will be spending long days in gorgeous dreamy boutiques whilst the boutique owners have all the time in the world for us, alongside serving us endless cups of garam chai whilst we decide and browse stunning embellished couture pieces which are draped on mannequins in front of us – I simply cannot wait!
Where exactly in India I’m going for bridal shopping hasn’t been decided but the plus point about Punjab is that they can normally custom make pieces in 1-2 weeks whereas in Delhi its looking more like 1-2 months, which is tricky when you only have one trip planned. Also I have never shopped in Delhi so this may work against me, but I have heard you can contact companies in advance which will take you bridal shopping (the joys of the modern world). So I need to think about this in more detail and make a plan. Don’t worry I’ll share it with you as soon as I have got one!
But for now I wanted to share with you my top 3 designers for my lehenga that I am keeping a close eye on! As you have probably guessed I won’t be a traditional bride and red is my most hated colour.
Yes he’s wacky, yes he’s out there yaar, but I really am addicted to his out of this world designs because I’m a sucker for anything heavy! I love colour and all things vibrant and he’s been recently wowing me at all of the fashion weeks, I just love his stuff! Sonam Kapoor is also a big fan as she is regularly spotted in MA.
Jade by Monica & Karishma
I only very recently discovered Jade and thank god I did! I love the couture pieces that are being shared around by Jade. There is just something very different and edgy about them and they are certainly not your traditional bridal pieces. I love the use of bold colours and intricate embroidery – simply swoon *drools*
Yes I know you know he is my couture crush and you probably have seen his name a million times over but there is a reason for that! His pieces are gorgeous. His style is using unusual fabrics with embellishments alongside vibrant colours. He’s the ultimate choice for brides – including me! I’ll let the picture do the talking…
