Hello there beauts!
So as you probably know it was my engagement on Saturday 13th September, well when I say engagement I mean it was the chunni and karmai ceremony.
For those of you that don’t know what this is, it’s a ceremony that usually happens before the wedding or on the wedding day. Me and my fiance wanted a big engagement party and we wanted to combine the two ceremonies so that we would save time on the wedding day but more importantly we have an excuse to paaaaaaaaarttttty!
It was a beautiful affair. We chose a country club hotel in Swindon which was gorgeous. It has this old charming feel to it and the garden room where our party took place was the perfect size for a intimate event. We had 120 guests attend which were close family and friends only.
So where do I start, I just don’t know! There is so much to tell and I def can’t write all about it in one blog post, so I’ll write a few more blog posts, but for now I’ll start with me and the venue.
Lots of people asked me why I opted for the colours I did. Well I wanted to go for a glitzy and glam look, afterall that’s me through and through, I love all things sparkly and glam and I thought that the engagement needs to be a small respresentation of me and my fiance.
So when I got my dress from Silons back in July I knew I wanted to incorporate the colour purple into the decor and I wanted a strong theme. So I spoke to the decor company and said that we needed purple chair covers and asked for their recommendation. They suggested that we had purple roses in the centrepieces and that’s what we did and they looked simply gorgeous!
We used pink up lighting in the room to give the room some ambiance and the right atmosphere and it worked a treat and completely transformed the room. I cannot stress how important lighting is so make sure you think of lighting options for your big day.
I completely fell in love with my look that was created by Rani Bhogal and Aamir Naveed. Rani was awesome, I didn’t want to go OTT with my make-up as it was just the engagement and she created my look perfectly. There was a strong emphasis on my eyes which had a dash of purple in them teamed with gorgeous eyelashes. We opted for very neutral matt lips.
As soon as I saw Aamir’s work earlier this year I knew I wanted him. His work is AMAZING and he’s the leading Asian hair stylist in the UK. I didn’t have a trial with him and I simply just told him what I wanted and he created it, and OMG I got so many compliments on my hair and the look came together amazingly well.
So that’s a very quick snapshot of some engagement details but watch out for the other posts and pics 🙂
