Hello there #DesiBrides
I hope you all are having a fabulous week!
This month has been crazy hectic for me, I exhibited at Asian Bride, numerous events on and of course I have been planning away for Desi Brides who have booked me for their Asian wedding planner for next year!
Moving on though, last month I had the pleasure of being invited to the Kyles Collection networking event in their showroom in Green Street, London. The purpose of this event was to get Asian wedding make-up artists and blogger’s together and talk about the Kyles Collection story and future creative collaborations. For me this was a very exciting piece of news indeed because a strong jewellery brand such as Kyles is actually recognising the importance of blogger’s in the Asian wedding industry which really is a rarity! Mostly when I talk to Asian wedding brands they look at me with utter confusion when I mention I am also a blogger as well as a Asian wedding planner and Asian wedding coordinator, so well done Kyle’s for recognising the power of blogger’s and of course collaborations!
I was just expecting this to be a industry networking event but it was so much more than that!
As soon as I walked into the showroom I was awestruck by the beautiful and stunning collections that adorned the Kyles cabinets.
Then came the exciting part – we were showed around the jewellery workshop where 19 team members were hard at work. The jewellery creation process is very complex, and and you could see that so much hard work and craftsmanship goes into creating these truly unique pieces. Every detail and jewel is carefully crafted with complex jewellery making techniques and processes, so if you are a Kyles bride rest assured that no detail has been spared when creating these beautiful jewellery creations!
Once the workshop tour was complete we were invited to take our seats for the Kyles Collection presentation. Now this is the part that really struck a chord with me and left me thinking so deeply.
Nisha and Mal – the founders shared their truly inspirational story which began in the 1990’s in Bute, Scotland. From very humble beginnings actually, believe it or not. It was hard to believe that this successful and reputable brand had started out in their bedroom, where they were creating and shipping out their jewellery, and their sole purpose at the time was just to survive. They would make jewellery on the same table that they would later be eating on as a family. Nisha and Mal talked about their struggles as a business and what they did to overcome these paralysing struggles, and how they had built the Kyles brand to what it is today. Over time their path had taken them to London and of course there were struggles. As someone who only started blogging last year and only launched Desi Bride Dreams Wedding Planning back in September, this presentation was so inspiring to me. So many Asian wedding brands don’t show the hard times they have faced, and so many certainly don’t give such a honest account of their business story, and it was so great to see Mal and Nisha talking about both their successes and failures. One thing was crystal clear -their passion kept them going through the good times as well as the bad.
We had a Q&A session at the end as well where the audience were encouraged to ask questions. There were lots of make-up artists who had attended who were just starting out and asking for pieces of business advice. Kyles message was very clear – work hard, always persist and be honest in what you are doing, business isn’t always easy but its so worth it. I know they inspired so many (including myself) that night to follow their hearts and achieve their goals. Nothing is impossible.
What is it they say – Rome wasn’t built in a day….
It was also great to see that Rav and Manjna are now carrying the Kyles brand forward – may long their success continue.
Before the presentation, myself and my other lovely blogger friend – Sara were speaking a lot to one of the founders – Mal, chit chatting away about business and all things jewellery, and he said one thing which I won’t forget – do business with the heart and not with the pocket. Thank you Mal for these words I will cherish them forever! He’s also such a lovely warm soul as well!
After the presentation we were treated by lovely cupcakes by Cake Boulevard
And for all you Desi Brides out there, here are some images of Kyle’s latest collection – enjoy!
