As I sit here writing this blog post it has just completely dawned on me that I pretty much have 6 months till our wedding. Jesus where has the time flown? I have already been engaged 10 months and when I started my wedding planning I was thinking to myself I have tons of time left as I had 15 months to plan, but now all of sudden only 6 months left – eeks!
So where am I will the whole wedding planning and how am I feeling? To be honest a few weeks back I was being such a bridezilla aka stressy cow and I was really bogged down with everything. I think that’s because my cousin was down from India and I had such busy weekends planned with her from rainy sightseeing in London town to weekends away to Derby to see my cousins. Not to mention taking my little mini break after my engagement , absolutely doing nothing in terms of the wedding planning. So yes a few weeks ago I was very very stressed to say the least. Constantly snapping, moody and miserable. Everyone who knows me knows that’s not me so I thought to myself I can’t spend the next 6 months being like this! I need to enjoy the ride and chill the hell out.
But everyone knows, that was just a silly phase. After a full weekend at home (after two months) sitting down with a cup of garam garam chai on a wintry Saturday afternoon, having my bhangra blaring with my pretty little wedding scrapbook I worked out what I needed to get done in the up and coming weeks in priority order and fired out a ton of emails to suppliers.
Basically where I am is that I have only have decor to book for my wedding day which I am very impressed with. Photography has been difficult because there hasn’t be one photographer I can honestly say I have been in love with their photography. Crazy I know but hey I’m a perfectionist. I’m just about to place my cake deposit tonight – yay! I’m having another decor meeting next week so that should be all firmed up very soon *jumps for joy*
Pre wedding events. Oh dear, this is what I am pretty behind on. I think purely because again I want my pre wedding events full of pretty colourful things filled with lots of lovelyness and I want the right suppliers to achieve the look I want. The wedding day has definitely taken priority because I wanted to book all the good suppliers for the wedding day. I think I’m a savvy bride and I’m getting at least 2-3 quotes for everything because a) I want to ensure I am not getting ripped off and b) I want to also make sure that I am getting the right quality and I’m only going for good reputable companies. If they are unprofessional and don’t get back to me they are gone. It’s not all about the money, you are trusting these people with the biggest day of your life and the lead and build up to it, so it has to be right!
I have a few free weekends coming up in December so I will try and do lots of wedding stuff then and send out quotes for the little things and then during the week I can just reply to emails etc and it doesn’t become so stressful. Being the organised freak I am up this is super important to me.
So what’s the plan for the next few weeks? I want to get pretty much everything booked in regards to decor and pre wedding bits so I can relax over Christmas and get into the Christmas spirit – ho ho ho (bad joke I know I’m sorry but I just couldn’t resist). Oh did I mention I’m also doing a strip down? If you missed that blog post then you can check it out here
Here’s to enjoying the ride and dreaming big. Oh and NOT getting stressed (any more)
