Hello Desi Brides!
So remember the other week I mentioned Raja Rani and how I met them at the National Wedding show at the Excel. Well I wanted to talk to you about their pretty products.
As you know I’m a sucker for anything bespoke, pretty and cute. Like any bride I want to have gorgeous and quirky things at my wedding and pre wedding events. I’m sick to death seeing the same mithai box designs or the same dull plastic clear bags which everyone dumps their suits and sari’s even though they are meant to be given as gifts to family members and in-laws. The same products from the same shop from India and nothing is ever different! Not to mention those hideous money cards or whatever you call them when you are meant to gift people money with them. Just hideous I tell you.
This is exactly why I was so excited and relieved when I bumped into the Raja & Rani stand. The gorgeous products instantly grabbed my attention. They had so many beautiful handmade items such as the pearl embellished pouches which you can fill with home made mithai to give to your guests. They are perfect for a sangeet or mehndi night!
This is what Rakhee the founder of Raja Rani had to say…
We created Raja Rani earlier this year after our own wedding. Amongst all the big decisions such as choosing a caterer, venue, photographer etc, the little details seemed to get lost. Everyone knows that throughout an Asian wedding, lots of sweets and gifts are exchanged between families but there has never been much importance given to the presentation of these. Being a creative person, I refused to give my husband’s family sweets in a simple cardboard box with the vendor’s name written all over it, or to present gift suits and shirts in plastic bags. After hunting up and down the country and in a few cities in India (amongst the thousands of other things to look for during the ‘wedding shopping trip’), I couldn’t find anything that was both designed well and of good quality so I ended up designing and making all the packaging myself for all of my wedding events. The response was great and everyone loved the unique-ness of each gift. From this, Raja Rani was born!
The money pouches were also another of my favourite. Such a beautiful alternative to those hideous money cards I was talking about.
The suit and saree bags were also gorgeous – love them!
I nearly forget about the jewel adorned bespoke trays as well – I will definitely be getting myself one!
So I’ll shut up now and let these beaut products do the talking….
Like Raja Rani said – it’s not about what you give it’s how you give it…
